We're Hiring: Senior Cost Accountant

Senior Accountant (Cost & GL Focus) Katy, TX (On-Site)

Position Description: Senior Accountant (Cost & GL Focus)

Reports To: Corporate Controller

Location: Katy, TX (On-Site)

Compensation: $95,000 – $110,000 (Based on Experience)

Bonus: Quarterly Bonuses (Individual & Business Performance)

Our client is a family-owned industrial specialty contractor serving the Texas market. The company is big enough to handle Tier 1 commercial projects but small enough that you will know everyone’s name.

As the company begins to execute the next leg of their growth strategy, they are seeking a Senior Accountant to serve as the backbone of the financial reporting team. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who values stability, wants to be part of an M&A growth story, and prefers a collaborative team over a "churn-and-burn" corporate environment.

  • Stability & Growth: Family-owned business with a long-term hold strategy, not a "buy-and-flip" PE target.
  • Mentorship: Work directly with a CFO and Controller who prioritize professional development (including support for CMA/CPA maintenance).
  • Tenure & Stability: This is a stable business that’s been operating for over 30 years and is entering an exciting new stage of growth. There are many long-tenured employees, and the environment supports both career growth and longevity-rooted in a results-driven culture that values getting the work done, not watching the clock.
  • Maturity & Modernization: The company is entering a maturity phase of its growth, with a clear commitment to strengthening internal infrastructure. Leadership is focused on improving processes, streamlining workflows, and investing meaningfully in the finance function to ensure the business is well-positioned to scale thoughtfully and sustainably.
  • Impact: A Company that is big enough to matter (Tier 1 projects) but small enough that your work directly impacts the bottom line

What the Senior Accountant will do:

  • Cost Accounting & WIP: This is the heartbeat of our business. You will partner with Project Managers to review Job Cost reports, analyze labor productivity, and ensure costs are coded correctly to projects vs. GL expense accounts.
  • Own the Close: Lead the month-end closing process, including complex journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations (Cash, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Debt).
  • M&A Support: Assist the CFO and Controller with due diligence for potential acquisitions and help integrate new companies into our financial reporting structure.
  • System Optimization: The business currently uses Foundation Software. You will maximize its utility today while helping prepare for a future ERP migration (e.g., to NetSuite) as the business scales.
  • Process Integrity: You are the "Quality Control" for our financial data. You catch errors before they hit the financial statements.

The "Right Fit" Senior Accountant:

  • Highly Inquisitive: You prefer to understand the “Why” behind your work products rather than just the “What” and translate those insights into overall business improvements.
  • The "Cost" Mindset: You understand that in construction, Cash is King but Margin is Queen. Terms like Retainage, Over/Under Billing, and Committed Costs are second nature to you.
  • Technical over Tactical: You prefer digging into a complex reconciliation or building a clean Excel model over managing a large team of staff.
  • Change Ready: You aren't intimidated by the idea of moving from a legacy system (Foundation) to a modern ERP. You view a system migration as a challenge, not a headache.
  • Team Oriented: This is a "leave our egos at the door" environment and we help each other out during the busy close cycle.

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

  • Experience: 4+ years of accounting experience (Construction, Manufacturing, or Industrial Services industry strongly preferred).
  • Education: B.S. in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Certifications: CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is preferred. CPA is a plus but not required.
  • Tech Stack: Experience with Foundation Software is a major differentiator. Advanced Excel skills (Pivots, Lookups, SumIfs) are non-negotiable. Experience with an ERP implementation/migration is a huge plus.

We're Hiring: FP&A Manager

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager, San Antonio Texas

Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid – 4 days in office, Fridays WFH)
Compensation: $130,000–$145,000 base + ~15% annual bonus + equity
Reports To: SVP / Head of Finance

About the Company

Our client is a high-growth, equity-backed organization generating approximately $100M in revenue and operating with an entrepreneurial, execution-focused culture. The company is at an exciting inflection point, actively investing in new products and services, expanding existing offerings, and pursuing M&A opportunities with a clear goal of tripling EBITDA over the next five years.

This is a business where finance has a real seat at the table. The leadership team values data-driven decision-making, and the finance function plays a critical role in shaping strategy rather than simply reporting results. The company is also undergoing a data and finance transformation, providing a rare opportunity for this hire to influence systems, tools, and processes that will support the next phase of growth.

For the right person, this role offers meaningful visibility to executive leadership, exposure to board-level discussions, and long-term upside through equity participation as the company executes on its growth strategy.

About the FP&A Manager

The FP&A Manager will serve as a strategic and hands-on finance leader, acting as the second-in-command to the Head of Finance and a trusted partner to executive leadership. This is a working manager role with ownership over financial modeling, planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.

This individual will own the corporate financial model, lead budgeting and forecasting processes, support strategic initiatives (including M&A), and help improve financial transparency across the organization. The role also includes helping shape the company’s finance systems and reporting stack as part of an ongoing data transformation effort.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning, maintaining, and enhancing the corporate three-statement financial model
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
  • Developing strategic models to support growth initiatives and M&A activity
  • Forecasting short- and medium-term cash positions and liquidity
  • Delivering variance analysis, lookbacks, and actionable insights to leadership
  • Leading results discussions with executive leadership
  • Supporting board and investor reporting
  • Maintaining debt covenant calculations and lender-related analysis
  • Partnering with IT and leadership on finance systems, reporting tools, and data strategy
  • Evaluating and helping select FP&A and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, DataRails, Vena)
  • Mentoring and developing junior finance talent as the team grows

About You (Ideal Candidate Profile)

This role is well suited for a finance professional who combines strong technical modeling skills with real business intuition. You enjoy being close to the numbers, understand how a business operates end-to-end, and are comfortable explaining financial insights directly to senior leadership.

You are confident without being arrogant, comfortable pushing back when necessary, and focused on execution rather than formality. You thrive in environments with ambiguity, limited playbooks, and evolving priorities, and you enjoy building structure where it doesn’t yet exist.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants ownership, visibility, and a long-term path toward becoming a senior finance leader as the company grows.

Qualifications needed for the FP&A Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 5–7+ years of progressive finance or corporate finance experience
  • Strong three-statement financial modeling experience (non-negotiable)
  • Advanced Excel skills; ability to build complex models from scratch
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to operate independently and solve ambiguous problems
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of how financial decisions impact operations
  • Corporate finance background; investment banking experience highly preferred
  • Experience in a high-growth, entrepreneurial, or PE-backed environment a plus
  • Exposure to M&A modeling and valuation
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools is great but Excel is King here!
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms or finance system implementations would be a benefit!
